Get Involved

There are many ways in which you can get involved and support Warrington Animal Welfare. From volunteering working hands-on at the centre or walking the dogs off-site, from driving the van to painting the fences...and much more.

You may want to organise a fundraising event or work in a particular area such as with our rabbits. Whatever your area of expertise, we'd be glad to hear from you about helping us out with our vital work caring for our animals.

Below we've listed some of the ways in which you can show your support and help us in practical ways.  If we've missed anything or you have an idea we haven't thought of, shout out and let us know! We're open to ideas and we want to explore new areas.

Volunteering

Volunteers are the life-blood of charities like Warrington Animal Welfare. You may want to help out in the rehoming centre – cleaning and caring for the animals, help run a neutering campaigns e.g. leafleting, fundraising, walking dogs, socialising nervous pets, transporting animals to vets appointments, fostering, admin tasks, homechecking (training will be given), handling calls and updating our website!

If you could give even just a few hours a month to volunteer for WAW then please click here for more information and to apply.  Please note volunteers must be aged 18+ and able to work unsupervised.

Donations

We are always grateful of one-off donations, to help us with the costs of urgent operations or neutering campaigns in the community.  Your money goes towards the ongoing care of our resident cats and dogs at our centre, and also neutering and microchipping activities in the community to reduce the numbers of abandoned and stray animals in our area.

Many of our regular supporters are now giving to WAW via our charity account on the online fundraising site, Just Giving.  The money goes directly to WAW, making it a safe and secure way to fundraise and donate online. We can claim Gift Aid where appropriate and this means that your donation goes even further to help the animals. Check out our Just Giving Page.

Other ways you can donate include:
  • Text: Text NEUT 29 (plus the amount) e.g. NEUT29 £20 to 70070
  • Direct Debit / Standing Order: Set up a regular or a one off Direct Debit
    Sort Code 60 20 29  /  A/c Number 50246798  /  Bank: Natwest

Remember WAW in Your Will

Legacy donations allow us to plan for the future in a way that no other gift can. Donations left to WAW via your will are a great way to guarantee that your support continues when you are no longer here to help in person.  Find out more on our Legacy page.

Enrol as a Foster Carer

Foster carers are an invaluable part of the work that we do and vital members of the WAW family.

We regularly need new people to take on this role. It simply isn't possible for us to accommodate all of the vulnerable animals who need care and attention.

Our kennels are always full, and we are sometimes unable to take in admissions due to lack of space. Some dogs find Kennels life too stressful, and thrive in a foster home.

Our mother cats and kittens need warmth and attention in those first few important weeks. Or, like us, you may love your older cats and would like to provide a permanent foster home for them. If you do, the medical bills will be funded by WAW, although we are always grateful for contributions in this area of our work.

Our foster carers often save the day and make a friend for life in the process. You may be asked to foster for the short term or for a longer period of time, according to the animal's needs and your circumstances.

Find out more about fostering unwanted litters of kittens and their mothers here.

Display a Collection Box / Tin

Could you put a donations tin at your work? If so, please contact our centre and we can arrange to have one dropped off.  Or, could you put a large box in your office to encourage your colleagues to drop in unwanted gifts for our tombola’s? We have done this at a few workplaces and it works really well and is a way for people to donate without spending a penny.

Every penny counts to WAW and the pennies in our collection tins add up to pounds, which go to fund the ever-growing expenses and providing for the animals every day.

Donations – Pet Supplies/Food and Tombola Prizes

Our animals got through a lot of food, so we really appreciate your donations of pet food.

We always need cat/kitten and dog wet and dry foods.  So any donations are really appreciated by the animals.  Look out for donation boxes in your supermarkets or you can drop it off directly at the centre.

To help us continue our fundraising efforts, we always need donations of items and gifts that we can use as prizes in our tombola’s or raffles. Do you have any unwanted gifts you could donate or items we could use as raffle prizes?  Just drop them off at the centre.

We also have a WAW Amazon Wish List - you can buy items direclty from the list whcih are then delivered direct to us! No messing!

Advertise an Event for Us - Display an Event Poster

We want to spread the word and invite as many people as possible to our events. You could help by sharing and liking on Facebook, or you could display a poster for us, in the 'old-fashioned' way, in your shop window or a notice board at work!

It really makes a difference and we can reach out to more people. Contact us for more information.

Adopt WAW as Your Chosen/Corporate Charity

By choosing Warrington Animal Welfare as your chosen charity you can help us to continue to give animals a voice.

Funds allow us continue to run our rescue/rehoming centre, pay for veterinary treatment, support animals in our foster homes and help us to continue to reduce the number of stray and abandoned animals in and around the Warrington area, via our ‘Responsible Pet Ownership’ campaigns, which not only encourage people to Neuter and Microchip their pets but also where necessary, to provide assistance with the cost of these procedures for owners who are on benefits or low income.

Over the last 30 years we have organised very successful campaigns, some of these working with local councils and this has only been possible thanks to the generosity of people who like, WAW believe that Neutering pets is the only way to really make an impact on this growing problem and save lives.

We are keen to support your fundraising.  So whether you want to fundraise for us over several years, or just for one term; we’re just happy that you’ve chosen us!  Whatever the reason for your support, it would be great if you could highlight that you’ve chosen us to fundraise for early on, so that we can help in whichever way you need.

For instance, we’d be more than happy to come in and give a talk to everyone if this is appropriate. We also love a good story, so we’d like to publicise your achievements as much as possible in the local press, on our social media (our Facebook has 20k+ followers and growing) and on our website.

For more information on any of the above please contact us, or email wawevents20@gmail.com.
