All I want for Christmas!

Please join us and help us give an animal a place to feel safe and warm instead of feeling alone and abandoned in the cold.

All the animals in our care really want is a home for Christmas, but until that happens we need to make sure they are well looked after, cared for and loved.  Every Christmas our doors remain open, we work 365 days a year to provide for the animals in our care this festive season.
Together, we can help make every dog like Max, cat like Daisy & Micky and rabbits like Nugget & Midge feel wanted, welcome and loved for life, not just for Christmas.
So you help WAW and the animals in our care to have a happy Christmas? There are many different ways you can help and get involved:

Make a donation

Make a secure one-off or regular donation - donations of any size or frequency are much appreciated, you can make a donation simply, safely and easily with JustGiving - we also receive an extra 20% from Gift Aid where appropriate and this means that your donation goes even further to help the animals.
Other ways you can donate include:
  • Text: Text NEUT 29 (plus the amount) e.g. NEUT29 £20 to 70070
  • Charity Checkout
  • In person – drop in and visit us at the centre.

Give a Gift! Donate Goods off Santa’s List

Donations don’t have to be cash!  We always need lots of thing to keep the centre running and the animals happy and fed.  We also need goods which we can sell or use on tombola’s.  Donations can be dropped off at the centre.
  • WORKPLACE COLLECTION: Have a box in your workplace etc. and encourage your colleagues to donate items.
  • TOMBOLA ITEMS: Your unwanted gifts or items that can be used for tombola.  It really helps us to continue our fundraising activities.
  • SHOEBOX: Get your children involved and make up a little box for the animals for a furry friend who has no family to treat him/her at Christmas.
  • AMAZON WISHLIST: Visit our list and donate from the comfort of your own home.
ITEMS WE NEED:  Wet & Dry Food – cats, dogs & kittens, rabbit and guinea pig food & treats, dog treats, poop bags, tombola Items, black bin bags (good quality), kitchen roll, good yard brush / inside brushes, Kong (strong) dog toy, washable scratching posts, good quality dog leads & collars, waterproof dog coats.

Untitled-design-(1).jpgWAW Memorial Christmas Tree 2017

Remember a lost loved pet or honour an existing pet this Christmas with the WAW Memorial Christmas Tree, at our rescue centre on Slutchers Lane.
From the Sunday 26 November you will see we have a beautiful tree, kindly donated by Grappenhall Christmas Tree Farm.  On the tree you can place a heart, which can be bought at the centre and area to remember past pets or to honour your current companions.  You can even add your pets name to the heart if you wish.
If you are not able to make it to the centre you can make a donation online and we will dedicate a heart to your pet - just visit our JustGiving page make the donation, making sure you add a comment that it is for a memorial heart, along with your pets name.
The hearts are only £2.00 each and all proceeds will help to raise funds for WAW and the animals in our care this Christmas.  Help us to fill our tree with love.  We are open every day 12-4pm (apart from Christmas Day, Boxing Day & New Year’s Day)

FUNdraising - fun ways you can help WAW this Christmas:

  • Christmas cards for kittens: Rather than sending Christmas cards this year, could you possibly possible donate what you would have spent on cards (and encourage friends and family too!) - to the cats, kittens, dogs and other animals at WAW.
  • Cakes for Cats - bake sale: Everyone loves a cake!  Hold a bake sale in your workplace, sports club, community Centre.  What's not to love, you get to eat cakes and raise money for WAW!
  • Dress Like Your Pet’ day: We know you all love dressing up, but what about having a fundraising day at your work where everyone dresses as their pet for a day?  It may mean your receptionist is dressed as a Labrador but it will certainly get your visitors talking!  So shake things up with the dressing in pyjamas at work idea and dress as your pet instead and raise money for WAW's kittens who are looking for homes!

Become ‘A Friend of WAW’:

Do you want to help and support the animals in our care over the long term?  Then become a friend of WAW.  You can set up a monthly sponsorship donation simply, safely and easily with JustGiving.  You can sign up for any monthly amount and we will add you to our charity newsletter by email so you are always up to date with the team and animals at WAW.  Find out more here

We could not run the rescue without volunteers and with a range of ways you can help, we are sure there is a role for you.  Find out more here.

Help to keep our cats and kittens warm:

We inherited our current cat and kitten accommodation with the building and it is 27 years old, poorly ventilated, poorly insulated – which means they are warm in summer and cold and damp in winter.
Each pod costs £300 to upgrade, each pod has its own plaque with the donor's details and donors are invited down to a special event to see their plaque and meet the cats who have benefited from the kind donation.  If you would like to make a secure donation towards the cost of refurbishing a cat pod you can visit our JustGiving or contact us if you wish to find out more about donating the full amount and having a plaque in your name.  Find out more here
