Golden RetrieverFaraon is a handsome, affectionate boy and is looking for a loving new family through no fault of his own. Sadly, his owner has had to move into emergency accommodation and can no longer keep him.
Described as a true family dog, Faraon is full of fun and loves to play. If you enjoy an active companion who is always ready for a game or an adventure, he’ll be in his element. He thrives on affection and enjoys being around the people he loves.
Faraon has lived with children aged 5+ and has always been well behaved with them.
Like many Retrievers, he can get a little overexcited when he’s having fun, but he has a lovely, friendly nature and has never shown any signs of aggression.
He is fully housetrained and has his own adorable way of letting you know when he needs to go outside – he’ll do a little dance by the door! He has been left for a few hours at a time and copes well. He may bark briefly when you first leave, but soon settles.
Faraon walks nicely on the lead, although he can pull if he spots children because he’s eager to get closer. He has excellent recall and enjoys getting out and about.
Occasionally he may lunge at passing bicycles, so his new family should be prepared to continue working on this with positive, reward-based training.
Around other dogs, Faraon is generally friendly and has a canine friend he regularly spends time with, although he can be a little excitable when meeting other dogs. He would be happy as the only dog in the home or could potentially live with another suitable dog following successful introductions.
He will chase cats, so he is looking for a cat-free home.
Faraon is not possessive over his food or toys, although he does prefer to enjoy a bone without interruption. He can also be a little unsure around unfamiliar men and may bark if approached, so he would benefit from patient owners who can continue to build his confidence.
Faraon is a wonderful, loyal boy with so much love to give. In the right home, with plenty of affection, exercise and understanding, he will make a fantastic companion and a devoted member of the family.
