Staffordshire Bull TerrierRuby came to us after her previous family felt they were no longer able to manage her needs. She is now looking for a more suitable home where she can feel safe, settled and supported.
Ruby was in her previous home since a puppy, she is good health, is house trained, letting you know when she needs to go out. She can be left for up to three hours.
She has lived with children aged 12 and 17. Although very nervous, and often frightened of new situations, unfamiliar people, she soon settles and is then affectionate and enjoys being stroked and fussed. She is comfortable being handled and is fine at the vets.
Ruby has lived with two dogs previously but struggles around food, so she will need to be rehomed as the only dog in the home. She must also be in a cat-free home.
She walks nicely on the lead but has no recall and has rarely been walked, so she will need patient support to build her confidence in the outside world. She does not enjoy travelling in the car. Future meets would need to take place offsite or in a secure dog field.
Ruby can occasionally destroy toys or balls, and like many young dogs, will need guidance and enrichment to help her thrive.
Ruby would suit a calm, patient household with older children and no other pets. She would benefit from someone who enjoys walking and can gently introduce her to new experiences at her own pace, helping her build confidence and feel safe.
Overall, Ruby is a lovely but very nervous girl who, once settled, shows her sweet and affectionate nature. With the right home, she has so much potential to blossom.
