Labrador x WhippetWynter is a beautiful girl with bundles of energy and so much love to give.
She came into our care through no fault of her own. Wynter had been in her previous home since she was 16 weeks old, after being born as part of an accidental litter. Sadly, with seven children in the household, she became too boisterous for the youngest members of the family and was often kept separated for long periods of time. It’s clear she hasn’t always had the chance to properly learn the skills she needs, but she’s ready now.
Wynter is a typical young crossbreed, energetic, giddy, affectionate and full of enthusiasm for life. She can be clingy with the people she bonds with and absolutely adores attention. With those she knows and trusts, she is playful and very loving.
She can be vocal when meeting strangers and may bark, but we’ve seen no signs of aggression, just uncertainty and excitement. She’s currently being introduced to new people and is doing well.
She is good with other dogs, although she does chase cats. She may do best as an only pet where she can have focused training and attention.
Training & Development
Wynter hasn’t had consistent training yet, so she will need a patient and committed home prepared to continue her education:
- Not fully house trained
- Lead work needs improvement
- Recall was said to be non-existent, though she has returned when called in secure field settings
- Very food-orientated (which will be brilliant for training!)
- Known to scavenge from floors and bins
The positive side? She is young, bright and eager. With structure, boundaries and positive reinforcement, she has huge potential
The Practical Bits
- No known medical issues
- Good traveller and doesn’t get car sick
- Used to being left for short periods, though previously confined for long stretches
Wynter would thrive with an active family who can give her physical exercise, mental stimulation and consistent guidance. She can live with older children who understand her excitable nature.
Most of all, she needs someone willing to invest time, patience and kindness, and in return, she’ll give loyalty, laughter and so much love.
If you think you could offer Wynter the fresh start she deserves, we’d love to hear from you.
